Interview with Piet Bus of Technical Consultancy & Trading B.V. (TCT)

We are proud to introduce our partner Piet Bus. Piet is founder of Technical Consultancy & Trading B.V. (TCT) and has an impressive background in the petrol station and infrastructure world, with experience at large organisations such as IBM and BP. From this expertise, TCT helps companies in the petrochemical and infrastructure sectors to become more sustainable. Together with FutureNed, TCT is working on innovative charging solutions for petrol stations, enabling sustainability without grid reinforcement. We spoke to Piet about this collaboration and the solutions for the petrol station industry.

FutureNed offers a host of charging solutions, including the EV193 which you primarily sell. Why did you choose FutureNed as a partner?

‘I was looking for a partner in the Dutch market that can provide charging solutions with integrated battery storage. FutureNed was recommended to me by an acquaintance and at the first meeting with Roy (director of FutureNed) it felt right away. There was an immediate click: trust, smooth communication and fast switching. Those are exactly the qualities I look for in a business partner.’

You have a background in the petrol station industry. What challenges and needs do you see among petrol station owners in terms of charging solutions?

‘The challenges vary by location, but a common problem is insufficient grid capacity. Many petrol stations already have a shop or car wash, so the grid connection is under maximum load. Upgrading a connection is possible, but that involves high costs and long waiting times. FutureNed offers an ideal solution with the EV193 fast charger with integrated battery. The integrated battery charges continuously at low power, allowing fast charging without having to increase the capacity of the mains connection. It also makes peak charging a thing of the past. This allows my customers to charge their vehicles with 200 kW, without interfering with daily operations.’

How do you see the market for charging solutions developing in the coming years?

‘The demand for charging stations is growing rapidly. Petrol stations see that they need to grow with it to remain attractive. Many filling station owners can choose between the EV193 fast charger or a larger battery container, such as FutureNed's BC series. Whereas the EV193 is perfect for flexible and immediate fast charging without recharging, the BC series offers the possibility of installing a series of charging stations or a charging hub. Thanks to the flexibility of FutureNed's solutions, these systems allow filling stations to respond to future developments and the growing demand for charging capacity in a way that best suits their situation.’

We are delighted to have Piet as a partner of FutureNed. Through our close cooperation, he now feels like an extension of our team. With his expertise and our solutions, we look forward to helping more and more service station owners get smart charging solutions!
